when we brought home a case of beer ...

with the new special glass inside ...

 

Budweiser has an app for this glass ...

when your team scores a goal ...

the glass lights up in a strobe pattern ... !!!

 

So if you are busy and not able to watch the game ...

you will know if your team scores ... 

 

I'm sure that Nathan will want one too ...

once he sees it ...

Back To Snow ...

So much for fun in the sun ...

We were back to plowing snow ... and getting a load of firewood ...

to start the wood stove in the house ...

It wasn't really cold enough to start up the outdoor wood furnace ...

We had already cut the logs to length last fall ...

so all that needed to do was split the logs ...

Stacking the pieces into the tractor ... to be taken to the house ...

The firewood was placed into the box by the back door ...

Available on the other side ... to be picked up to be burnt ...

It felt good to have some warmth ...

to take the chill out of the air ...

Spring should be here soon ...

Our Last Day in Houston ...

This was going to be our last day in Houston ... we'll be traveling on St. Patrick's Day ...

Dinner Time ...

Oma was so kind to treat us to steaks ...

for dinner this evening ...

Mike was in charge of grilling the steaks ...

He was an excellent cook tonight ...

Kendall ... Oma and I prepared the sidedishes for our dinner ...

The aroma thru the house was exquisit ...

We could hardly wait to seat ourselves down at the table ...

to dive into our meal ...

Dinner was so delicious ...

After dinner ... Grandpa was given gifts from the boys ...

for his birthday and for Father's Day coming up in June ...

Grandpa was delighted to receive a poster of the boys ... 

and I do believe it will be put up in the shop ...

so the boys are close to him ...

We decided to go for a walk ...

after our yummy dinner ... 

Daigen and Nixon chose to ride their bikes ...

We were out for quite some time ... as neighbours were stopping to chat ... 

and other children were riding their bikes as well ...

It was a lovely evening ... 

 

 

Staying Home ...

Nixon wanted to do some creating this morning ...

The boys have lots of stickers ...

Nixon and I took our time combing thru them ...

to find the right ones for his creation ...

Next on the morning activities ...

was for the boys to bake some chocolate brownie cookies ...

Daigen and Nixon have made these before ...

They knew exactly what to do ...

First of all ... preparing the pan with paper muffin cup liners ...

Then gathering the ingredients to mix up the batter ...

Daigen helping mom turn the oven on ... setting the temperature ...

The batter mixed up and scooped into the muffin tin ...

It's all ready to be put in the oven to be baked ...

and 20 minutes later ...

The muffin cookies were done ...

mmmmmm ... smells yummy ...

The boys headed outside for some pool time ...

 

Daigen loves to jump off the diving board into the water ... 

making a big splash ... 

Nixon loves watching his brother ...

 They also had a great time in the hot tub ... 

trying to ride the parrot ...

The perfect way to spend the afternoon ...

 

In The Hot Tub ...

March 14 & 15, 2017

It was a bit cool outside this afternoon ... 

the boys wanted to go in the hot tub ...

but not by themselves ... so grandpa jumped in with them ...

Later on the Ian and Kendall joined Mike in the hotub ...

The boys were off playing ...

Nixon finding some plastic eggs in the bushes ...

(that had not been found previously) ...

Nixon spending time chatting with Oma ...

 

Ian decided to go for a dip in the pool ...

It had warmed up ... the sun was hot ...

I was taking cover under the umbrella ... 

we moved over to the seating area once it was covered in shade ...

Ian and Mike went for a drive in the old car ...

off to the pub for a few sociables and pick up their dinner ...

They came back to the house with a pan full of crawdads and all the fixings ...

Oma was interested in the technique of getting the meat from the little critters ...

Oma tasted them ... I opted out as they were very hot and spicy ...

it was a lot of work to get enough to fill their bellies ...

The rest of us had leftovers ...

We were in the back yard ...

watching a Gecko climbing on the bricks ...

then hiding in plant ...

Nixon loves the Geckos ... 

Grandpa was busy cleaning up the leaves in the pool ...

The boys were thinking about going in for a swim ...

Ian and Mike were in charge of cooking up the burgers on the BBQ ...

We had a delicious dinner ...

After dinner ... it was unanimous between Mike ... Ian and Oma ...

 that it was going to be a martini night ...

Kendall was going to continue drinking wine ...

We had a great evening ... relaxing and playing with Daigen and Nixon ...

Nixon liked watching Oma do puzzles on her iPad ...

so Ian downloaded an app for children ...

Now Nixon can put puzzles together just like Oma ...

It was getting late and time for the boys settle down ...

Daigen had gone to bed ...

and Nixon needed some cuddle time with Grandma ...

It wasn't long before we both nodded off to sleep ...

Going for a Walk ...

We decided to go for a walk to the park ...

after breakfast ...

It was a cool morning ... the perfect temperature for a stroll ...

Daigen and Nixon were fooling around ...

pulling and pushing each other ...

Making a game of it and having lots of fun ...

The boys were excited to go play on all the climbing structure ...

then swing on the swings ...

Nixon discovered a large mushroom ...

when he ventured off to the play area ...

He called for Oma to come over and look at it ...

A closer inspection reveiled another mushroom underneath the big one ...

We stayed at the park and played ...

for an hour or more ...

As it was getting near lunch time ...

we decided to make our way back home ...
